Authorities in Duplin County, North Carolina, say a suspect has been identified in the November 25 fatal shooting of a House of Raeford Farms worker, and that suspect is at large.

The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) announced earlier that around 5 a.m. on November 25, a worker at the House of Raeford Farms poultry plant in Rose Hill had been shot multiple times in the plant’s parking lot, and that the victim died while being transported to a hospital.

That incident was also confirmed by Dave Witter, manager of corporate communications and sustainability for House of Raeford, who told local media outlet WWAY TV, “the unfortunate fatality was an employee of House of Raeford’s Rose Hill facility.”

However, it wasn’t until the afternoon of November 30 that the names of the victim or suspect were identified. According to a post of the DCSO Facebook page, the victim was identified as Darius Atkins, a 29-year-old male from Wayne County, North Carolina.

The suspect has been identified as Antwan Terrell Wright, a 34-year-old male, also from Wayne County.

According to the agency’s Facebook post, Investigators have developed a case against Wright and have issued a warrant for his arrest. However, as of noontime on December 1, the sheriff’s department had not yet announced any success in locating Wright, who faces a murder charge.

“Investigators are now trying to locate Antwan Terrell Wright who is believed to be on the run. The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance from the public in locating Wright. Anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of Antwan Terrell Wright is encouraged to contact the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office at +1.910.296.2150.
