According to reports, Agri Star Meat & Poultry, which opened a shuttered meatpacking plant in Iowa, received state aid for its endeavor.
The Iowa Department of Economic Development authorized a package of $600,000 in loan and tax incentives to the company for the Postville, Iowa, plant project.
Agri Star plans a $6.85 million upgrade of the facility including the installation of ovens and fryers for a line of oven-baked beef and poultry. The plant is slated to create 168 jobs.
