Effective October 1, 2021, Steven Thompson will become the new country representative of specialty chemicals group LANXESS in the United Kingdom and managing director of LANXESS in the UK. He follows Jacques Perez who will assume the function of LANXESS country representative in Japan. Steven Thompson will keep his current position as head of the Human Resources group function of the EMEA region.
After studying chemical engineering in the United Kingdom, Thompson started his career in the nuclear industry thereafter working across the retail and chemical sector within manufacturing operations, supply chain and logistics at Unilever, FMC, Great Lakes Chemicals and the Metro group. In 2011, he joined Chemtura as director of EMEA customer services before moving to human resources. In the course of the acquisition of Chemtura by LANXESS, Thompson joined LANXESS as global HR business partner of what is now the Polymer Additives business unit in April 2017. In addition, in February 2018, he also became head of HR of the EMEA region.
