Another European state records avian flu in poultry

Latest European country to report cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in poultry is Moldova. While France, the Netherlands, and Poland register further outbreaks on farms, infections in backyard flocks are confirmed in four other states. In Northern Ireland, surveillance zones put in place following earlier outbreaks have been lifted, and one outbreak at a French zoo has been resolved.

As of January 22, 10 European countries have registered one or more outbreaks in poultry with the Animal Disease Information System of the European Commission (EC). The System has recorded a total of 221 outbreaks in 2022 up to that date. This is an increase of 71 since the previous…
