More than five months after an employee at the Foster Farms poultry processing plant in Farmerville, Louisiana, was fatally stabbed, the suspect in the case continues to evade authorities.

To help bring the suspect, Bruce Causey, to justice, the family of the victim has sought the service of a private investigator, the victim’s sister told KNOE.

On the morning of April 21, 2022, Ketrick Lavon Calhoun was fatally stabbed at the plant, and Causey, who was working at the facility as part of a work release program, fled the scene. While a manhunt was initiated, Causey has been on the lam ever since.

“He’s so dear to us, and he just means so much to us,” Elizabeth Calhoun said of her slain brother. “We are hoping the person who took his life is brought to justice.”

According to the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, Causey was serving a sentence for three crimes: attempted possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine, both of which were committed in East Baton Rouge Parish, and second-degree battery, committed in Concordia Parish. He has been a state inmate since March 19, 2014. Causey had been with Union Parish Work Release since March 1, 2021.

Had Causey, who is presumed innocent until proven guilty, avoided trouble and not fled the scene, he may have legally been a mostly free man by now. He had a parole hearing scheduled for May 12 with the possibility of good time parole supervision on September 9.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth, while speaking to a KNOE reporter, had this message for Causey: “Wherever you go, we will find you. You can’t go anywhere where you won’t be found. It may be today. It may be tomorrow. It may be 5-10 years from now, but you will come to justice, and you will face us.”

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Causey is urged contact the Union Parish Sheriff's Office at +1.318.368.3124, or you’re their local law enforcement agency.
