Cobb expands reach in Kazakhstan

Company sees market potential as government stimulates agriculture

A new agency agreement between Cobb Europe and IG Belco will expand the availability of Cobb broiler breeding stock in Kazakhstan.

“The Kazakhstan market is not large, accounting for some 850,000 parent stock a year, but the country does import a substantial amount of poultry meat, around 90,000 tonnes a year, and is seeking to expand production,” said Wout van Wolfswinkel, parent stock sales manager of Cobb Europe. He said the move will open up new opportunities for the Cobb breed in that country.

IG Belco, a sales company for feed premixes and vitamins blends, has an office in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and has been active in that market for 20 years.

The Kazakhstan government is working to stimulate the country’s agricultural sector with income generated from oil and gas.
