According to data compiled by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the consumer price index for eggs, poultry, meat and fish rose 6.2% in the last year and 0.9% from December 2010.
The overall food index rose 0.5% in January. The food at home index increased 0.7%, the largest increase since 2008.
