Oklahoma, California senators introduce bill to eliminate ethanol subsidy, tariff

Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn and California Senator Dianne Feinstein have introduced the Ethanol Subsidy and Tariff Repeal Act, which would eliminate the Volumetric Ethanol Excise Tax Credit and repeal the import tariff on foreign ethanol. “The ethanol subsidy and tariff is bad economic policy, bad energy policy and bad environmental policy," said Coburn.

Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn and California Senator Dianne Feinstein have introduced the Ethanol Subsidy and Tariff Repeal Act, which would eliminate the Volumetric Ethanol Excise Tax Credit and repeal the import tariff on foreign ethanol.

“The ethanol subsidy and tariff is bad economic policy, bad energy policy and bad environmental policy," said Coburn. The bill has been filed as an amendment to a small business bill pending in the Senate. Cosponsors also include Maryland Senator Ben Cardin, North Carolina Senator Richard Burr, Virginia Senator Jim Webb, Maine Senator Susan Collins and Idaho Senator James Risch.
