Aviagen® EPI recently celebrated 25 years of cooperation with Farm Waaijer VOF in the Netherlands – the longest active Grandparent (GP) contract farmer within the region.
The farm consists of one house for approximately 3,200 females and had its first Aviagen GP flock placed in February 1991.
Owned and run by Gerrit Waaijer and Marian Waaijer-Schoneveld, the farm is based in Geesteren, eastern Netherlands. While Marian takes care of the daily farm operation, Gerrit is responsible for the overall management of the farm and also works part-time for a Dutch feed mill.
Gerrit Waaijer explains, “We are thrilled to have reached 25 years of working with Aviagen EPI. Our continued goal is to keep everything on the farm well maintained and up-to-date and to operate under strict biosecurity and hygiene standards. Performance results are above standard and we are very pleased with our house set-up and the continued support we receive from EPI.”
Alfred Kleis, GP manager at Aviagen EPI, says, “We would like to thank Gerrit and Marian Waaijer for 25 years of great work and cooperation. Their anniversary comes at a nice time for us as we celebrate 60 years of the Ross® brand this year. We hope to continue the good results and close working relationship for many years to come. Gerrit and Marian are always open to receiving our advice and the cooperation between us is very constructive and friendly. Leaving without a cup of coffee is no option!”
