Perdue Farms, through a $30,000 Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation grant, is continuing its partnership with the Recovery Resource Center (RRC) in its mission to facilitate and support people on their journey to recovery from addiction.
“This organization is such a blessing to our community,” said Kim Nechay, executive director of the Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation. “Sadly, addiction is not something that can be cured. But the staff and programs at RRC make recovery manageable for their clients and we know that makes all the difference in their ability to work and enjoy their families. We are honored to help them in their mission to aid those in need of their services.”
Each week, the Recovery Resource Center provides a safe haven and meeting place for approximately 1,000 people who participate in various support programs and educational workshops while seeking recovery from alcoholism, drug addiction, and any other chemical-use disorder.
“We have a tough job and without the generosity of organizations like Perdue, we wouldn’t be able to offer aid to the community. I can’t thank them enough,” said Curtis Paul, executive director of the Recovery Resource Center. “Re-entering society can be difficult for those who have struggled with addiction. Here at RRC, we can help. We recognize the importance of having a safe place to get your feet on the ground while new in recovery, and we also welcome anyone and everyone no matter where they are in their journey.
“The key to success in recovery is the formation of a solid support network while learning the skills needed to remain clean and sober,” he said. “By attending our various meetings and educational workshops, the recovering individual can learn the skills needed to reintegrate successfully.”
The Recovery Resource Center was established in 1987 as the Salisbury Substance Abuse Community Center by individuals who were in recovery themselves. The Center’s recovery support programs are provided at no cost to any person seeking support. The Center is located at 726 S. Salisbury Blvd. in Salisbury, MD on the corner of Waverly Drive and Hazel Ave. For more information, call 410-742-9482 or visit rrcsby.org.
