Noble Foods has intends to expand its Happy Egg Co. plant in Lincolnshire, U.K.
The egg plant has been operated by Noble Foods for the past 20 years.
Under the plan, which was approved by the North Kesteven District Council, the facility, which currently takes up 139,823 square feet of space, would be expanded by another 10,634 square feet, according to a report from Insider Media.
Among the changes to the facility included in the plan are the installation of automatic palletizers, the alteration of existing docks and the relocation of a lorry wash.
Noble Foods, according to the Poultry International Top Poultry Companies survey, is the largest egg producer in the U.K. and the fifth largest in Europe with a flock of 4 million hens. The free-range company also has a growing presence in the United States. According to the WATTAgNet Top Poultry Companies Database, the Happy Egg Co.’s U.S. layer flock includes 700,000 birds.
According to the Happy Egg Co. website, the company believes in raising its hens to thrive under natural conditions, promoting small family farms, and responsibly sourcing its eggs.
