MHP reported a 13 percent increase in poultry production volumes for the fourth quarter of 2018 and a 9 percent increase for the full year.
The Ukraine-based poultry company on January 24 released its trading update for the 2018 fiscal year.
According to the company, its poultry production volumes for the fourth quarter, ending December 31, increased 13 percent to 159,431 metric tons, while its production volumes for the full year were up 9 percent to 617,943 metric tons.
In terms of sales, MHP’s sales volumes for the fourth quarter were up 27 percent to 144,183 metric tons. The bulk of that growth came from export sales, in which its sales volume increased 62 percent to 72,929 metric tons. Its domestic sales volume for the quarter was up 4 percent to 71,253 metric tons. For the full year, total sales volumes were up 11 percent. Export sales volumes were up 30 percent, while domestic sales volumes actually dropped 2 percent.
The 11 percent sales volume growth, according to MHP, was in line with the company’s marketing and growth strategy. The increases in export sales volumes were due in large part to more shipments to the Kingdom and Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Iraq and the Netherlands.
Poultry prices
MHP reported that there was little change in price for the fourth quarter, as there was a less than 1 percent change in price on a year-over-year basis. However, for the full 12 months, the price increased by about 12 percent in 2018.
Vinnytsia poultry complex
MHP, in its trading update, provided an update on the progress of its new poultry complex in Vinnytsia. The three rearing sites associated with the complex and its slaughterhouse is gradually increasing its capacity utilization.
The slaughterhouse began its operations in July 2018.
All other MHP poultry production facilities operated at full capacity during the fourth quarter of 2018.
