Toby D. Moore, 68, former vice president of communications for the USA Poultry and Egg Export Council, died February 15, 2019.
Moore was a born in Jefferson County, Georgia, and grew up in Midville, Georgia. He attended East Georgia Junior College in Swainsboro, Georgia, and graduated from University of Georgia, School of Journalism. He was employed as a newspaper journalist in Madison and Commerce, Georgia, public relations at GoldKist, and as the vice president of communications for USA Poultry and Egg Export Council in Stone Mountain, Georgia, for more than 20 years. He traveled extensively all over the world for the U.S. poultry industry and the International Poultry Council.
After serving on active duty in the U.S. Navy, Moore joined the GA National Guard (GARNG) in 1984. He deployed in Desert Storm and Bosnia. He served as the unit’s first sergeant and later STARC public affairs NCOIC before his retirement in 2001.
Moore is survived by his wife, Victoria (McLaughlin) Moore; children, Kimberly (Brian) Syme and Mary (Jason) Steele; grandchildren, Nicholas Syme, Spc. Christopher Steele, Julia Steele, Zachary Steele and Gregory Steele; sister, Pamelia (Jim) Sahr; nieces, grandnieces and a grandnephew.
Moore was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Grace (Stewart) Moore.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to AFLAC Cancer and Blood Center (Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta), Atlanta, Georgia.
Services were held in Georgia last week.
