Poultry industry veteran Bill Griffith has joined Peco Foods its chief operations officer.

With more than 25 years of management experience, Griffith’s strong reputation for innovation, sustainability and quality naturally align with Peco’s core values, the company stated.

“Bill is a trendsetter in food safety, quality assurance, technology and more,” said Peco Foods President and CEO Mark Hickman. “Because of his track record, we have the highest respect for his ability to align products, facilities and customer needs with corporate priorities. Bill is an excellent addition to the Peco team.”

Bill Griffith’s experience

Griffith comes to Peco from Keystone Foods, U.S., where he previously served as president.

His strong science background and expertise in finance, strategic initiatives, marketing and sustainability provide a strong skillset for managing daily company operations.

At Keystone, Griffith was responsible for all financial, operational and business aspects of the company.  With nearly 5,800 employees, Keystone produces more than two billion pounds of meat and poultry products annually.

In addition to nine years with Keystone, Griffith had a successful tenure at Perdue Foods, overseeing food safety, quality and regulatory compliance of all Perdue products. Prior to his time at Perdue, Griffith was a microbiologist at Tyson Foods where he established a global reputation as an innovator in food safety technology.

Griffith earned degrees in biology and chemistry from Virginia Tech, remains active with the National Chicken Council and U.S. Poultry and Egg Association (USPOULTRY), and is the recipient of numerous awards. In May 2018, he was named to the USPOULTRY Foundation Research Advisory Committee.

Griffith succeeds Benny Bishop, who retired in late March.

Headquartered in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Peco consistently ranks among the leading poultry producers in the United States, having been listed in the 2019 WATT PoultryUSA Top Poultry Companies rankings as the 8th largest broiler company in the country. Its locations in Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi include state-of-the-art processing plants, feed mills, hatcheries and live operations offices. The company employs more than 6,500 team members.
