Ukrainian agrifood group MHP, once known as Myronivsky Hliboproduct, reported a positive close to the 2021 fiscal year, seeing an increase in both production volumes and in sales volumes. MHP’s Slovenian subsidiary, Perutnina Ptuj, also saw similar trends for the period.
MHP performance
In its most recent trading update, MHP reported that all of its poultry production facilities continued to operate at full capacity during the fourth quarter, and that production volumes reached 202,657 metric tons, an increase of 7% on a year-over-year basis. For the full year, production volumes reached 754,387 metric tons, a 3% increase
The company’s sales volumes increased 3% for the quarter when compared to the same quarter of 2020, reaching 180,028 metric tons. For the full year, sales saw a a mild increase when compared to 2020, up to 704,010 metric tons, an increase of a little more than 4,000 metric tons.
Domestic chicken meat sales declined by 11% for the quarter, but that was offset by a 11% increase in exports.
These MHP production and sales figures do not include the figures related to Perutnina Ptuj.
Perutnina Ptuj performance
For the fourth quarter, Perutnina Putj produced 28,043 metric tons of chicken and turkey meat, which was a 14% year-over-year increase. For the full year, production of chicken and turkey meat increased 10% to 111,973 metric tons.
Sales for the quarter rose 18% to 17,924 metric tons, and for the full year they rose 16% to 72,841 metric tons. Key to those increases was improved sales volumes in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Austria.
Perutnina Ptuj’s meat processing facilities, which produce sausages and convenience foods, saw a 6% increase in production for the fourth quarter, and the sales volumes rose 4% for the quarter. Those increases were attributed to higher sales volumes in Kosovo, Germany, Serbia and Croatia.
MHP, the world’s 17th largest poultry producer, finalized its acquisition of Perutnina Ptuj in 2019.
