A 64-year old woman died from injuries sustained after being run over by a truck tractor in a parking area outside of a Bell & Evans poultry plant.

According to a report from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), officers responded to a report of an unconscious person at the Bell & Evans property at 2929 State Route 22 in Bethel Township. The incident occurred at 9:08 p.m. on February 17.

Investigating officers determined that the victim, identified as Modrel Songer, 64, Valliant, Oklahoma, had been struck and run over by a 2017 Kenworth semi tractor in the east trailer parking area. Songer was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lebanon County Coroner’s Office.

While the PSP did not identify the driver, the agency did say that both the driver nor the victim were employed by a third-party company and that no employees of Bell & Evans, also known as Farmer’s Pride Inc., were involved.

PCP stated in its report that the investigation is ongoing. The United States Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is also conducting an investigation.

Songer’s obituary listed her occupation as a truck driver.

Songer is survived by her husband, her daughter, two sons and eight grandchildren.
