A delegation of Aviagen executive team members recently visited Arbor Acres Algeria (AAA), Aviagen’s exclusive distributor in the country, to see the company’s expanded grandparent and hatchery investments first-hand. The meeting included a discussion of ongoing strategy for the growth of Arbor Acres in the Algerian market.
AAA’s expansion program will enable it to fully supply and service the Algerian parent stock market for Arbor Acres chicks within the next year. The company’s new 15,000-grandparent farm site will include state-of-the art housing and ventilation systems, automatic nest boxes and the highest level of biosecurity. The location will allow for an additional capacity of 645,000 parent stock chicks per annum. The site is scheduled for completion in September. AAA’s planned hatchery expansion will double its parent stock output from 1.2 million to 2.4 million per year by 2018.
Aviagen was represented on the visit by Tom Exley, president, international business, and Michael Garden, business manager Middle East and Africa (MEA). They held an executive meeting with Rachid Kherbouche, owner of the Kherbouche Group, and Hachim Kherbouche, AAA general manager. Exley and Garden were accompanied on the visit by Aviagen’s Arbor Acres customer support team: Florian Blevin, Arbor Acres MEA commercial manager; Zied Azzez, technical service manager; and Tolga Erkus, incubation specialist.
In January this year, Aviagen and AAA renewed their contract for the exclusive distribution of Arbor Acres parent stock in Algeria, which has been in place since 2010. Aviagen’s Arbor Acres MEA team works closely with AAA to service the local market and ensure customers are receiving the required support.
“The visit was an opportunity for Aviagen to extend thanks to AAA for its continued trust and commitment to the Arbor Acres brand,” said Exley. “This dedication has led to exceptional performance and growth in market share, which makes an ideal opportunity for further investment. Aviagen is proud to work with a distributor that shares the same values of quality, support, as well as a safe and secure supply.”
“The success of Arbor Acres in Algeria to date means we are very happy to go forward with plans to invest,” added Kherbouche. “Arbor Acres is evidently the right brand for the market. We are grateful to Aviagen for the accessible support and service from both the local Arbor Acres team and global specialists.”
