Cherkizovo Group, the largest vertically integrated meat and feed producer in Russia, has received permission to export its poultry products to Egypt.
Three Cherkizovo poultry farms – the Vasilievskaya poultry farm of the Penza region, Lisko Broiler of the Voronezh region and Chicken Kingdom of the Lipetsk region – have received a license to export products to Egypt. The export license was granted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Melioration of the Arab Republic of Egypt following the results of inspections, which were carried out in February and March. A total of 12 Russian livestock enterprises have permission to export their products to Egypt.
Egyptian veterinary specialists conducted the inspections of Cherkizovo’s poultry farms. They thoroughly examined the farms’ sanitary conditions and adherence to general safety standards. In addition, all three poultry houses were assessed on their adherence to halal, a code of conduct in Islamic religious tradition regulating the slaughtering process. The Egyptian veterinary inspection confirmed that all three poultry farms fully comply with all these standards.
Cherkizovo Group intends to start shipping its poultry products to Egypt within two months, after the company has completed negotiations on the technical aspects of delivery terms with its Egyptian partners. It is expected that shipments to Egypt will comprise 15 percent of Cherkizovo Group’s total export volume in 2016.
