Billed as the only event targeted exclusively to meeting procurement needs of those in the animal feed and petfood industries, the 2009 American Feed Industry Association's (AFIA) Purchasing and Ingredient Suppliers Conference (PISC) promises a top-rated event when it takes place March 11-13 in Destin, Florida.

As in previous years, PISC will be held in conjunction with the AFIA Spring Forum, which kicks off just ahead of the conference on March 9-11. Both will take place at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.

The conference seeks to be the inimitable event for meeting the informational and educational needs of those in the procurement side of the animal feed and petfood industries.

AFIA celebrates 100th anniversary

Organizers say that PISC provides an opportunity for attendees to gain valuable information about the latest issues affecting the feed industry and also meet with key decision-makers.

This year's event will be especially noteworthy in that it will also celebrate the 100th anniversary of AFIA with a look at how to build a stronger future for the US feed industry. In conjunction with the celebration, attendees are invited to attend the unveiling of the AFIA Centennial book and video at a special Centennial Celebration luncheon held prior to the opening of the conference on March 11. Additional information on this special event, including how to R.S.V.P., can be found at the AFIA Web site, www.afia.org.

Focus on ingredient procurement

Target audiences for the conference are ingredient purchasers and suppliers, with the goal of bringing both segments of the industry together and providing the latest information on issues impacting the feed business, from global trends to environmental sustainability.

The event is organized by AFIA's Purchasing and Ingredient Suppliers Committee, comprised of member company representatives who strive to identify the most pressing issues in the industry in constructing the annual program.
