The 60th Annual Delmarva Chicken Festival held in Centreville, Md., over the past weekend was deemed a success, according to the Delmarva Poultry Industry.
The two-day festival attracted a record number of Friday visitors and, despite thunderstorms on Saturday, festival organizers estimated that 25,000 persons attended the event overall.
Visitors learned about Delmarva’s chicken industry, which produces about 6% of America's broiler chickens, and literally ate several tons of chicken prepared in a variety of ways.
The 61st Delmarva Chicken Festival is slated for June 2010 at Delaware State University in Dover, Del.
