Dawsonville, Ga.'s, Gold Creek Foods LLC plans to expand its operations by acquiring the Mohawk Industries plant in Dahlonega, Ga.
Mark Sosebee, Gold Creek Foods' CEO and co-founder, said the opportunity to offer employment in a distressed economy led the company to the Mohawk plant.
Michael Farmer, executive vice president and co-founder, said the plant would have the capacity to employ more than 1,000 people at full production. Production at the Dahlonega plant is expected to start by the end of 2009.
