Overall for 2008, officials look for exports to lag behind 2007 levels, however, due in part to high U.S. egg prices, a weak U.S. dollar, and new European Union rules that will make it more difficult to export to that region.
USEM announces export deal
United States Egg Marketers (USEM) has announced the sale of 100 container loads of fresh shell eggs to the Far East (approximately 80,000) cases for export with deliveries beginning the week of May 19.
