A group recently claimed that the 2003 avian influenza outbreak in Karachi, Pakistan, was a hoax created by vaccine-producing corporations, according to The International News.
The Birds and Animals Business Association alleged the unnamed companies spent millions of dollars on propaganda by making claims the H5N1 strain was transferable to humans, leading to poultry bans.
Despite the alleged propaganda, the H5N1 strain was never confirmed in the city and most countries have removed their bans on poultry.
