The U.S.Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has amended the import requirements for table eggs from regions where the exotic Newcastle disease exists. According to APHIS, this step will provide a more efficient testing option.
Table eggs being imported are required to have an accompanying health certificate containing a specific certification that egg drop syndrome is notifiable in the region of origin and that there have been no reports of EDS in the flocks of origin or within a 50 kilometer radius of the flocks for 90 days prior to the issuance of the certificate.
