A month after Cargill Inc. surrendered one of its rice-processing plants to the Venezuelan government, a pasta-processing plant owned by the U.S. food giant met the same fate, according to an Associated Press report.
Venezuelan Deputy Food Minister Rafael Coronado arrived with soldiers to seize control of the plant for allegedly breaking government price controls that were imposed to keep inflation in check.
The temporary takeover will last 90-days, Coronado said.
