US turkey processor receives environmental management certification

West Liberty Foods LLC has earned the ISO 14001:2004 certification for their manufacturing facility in Tremonton, Utah. In 2004, they were the first turkey processor in the U.S. to receive this certification at their West Liberty, Iowa facility, and have also earned certification for their Mount Pleasant, Iowa, location.

To receive certification, audits are performed to ensure that an organization's environmental management system is developed from and conforms to the ISO 14001:2004 standard. Manufacturer preparation for this audit can require 2,500 man hours and up to 1 year to write, develop and implement procedures.
