Cal-Maine Foods, the world’s largest egg producer, reported that it has sustained minor damages at some of its farms and egg production facilities in Florida and Southeast Georgia as a result of Hurricane Irma.

In a press release issued on September 11, Cal-Maine stated that moderate flooding has occurred in areas where the company has farms and production facilities, and that some of those farms and plants have sustained minor physical damage. Power has been lost at some of those locations, but they are currently able to operate with the use of back-up generators.

At the time, Cal-Maine Foods does not expect any material losses in egg production.

The company stated that it is closely monitoring the storm situation, and it will provide updates if any significant impact on operations occur.

According to the Cal-Maine Foods website, the company operates farms, processing plants, hatcheries, feed mills, warehouses, offices and other properties located in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Utah. More Cal-Maine facilities are in Florida than in any other state. A map of those company facilities shows three in Georgia, two of which are in the southeastern portion of the state.

Cal-Maine Foods, according to the WATTAgNet Top Poultry Companies Database, has a flock of 37.94 million hens. The company is headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi.
