As regulatory requirements for the feed industry continue to evolve, this training session will update participants on recent changes from several federal agencies including DOL, DOT, EPA, FDA and OSHA. Attendees will learn more about how their facility can get involved. 4. The High-Performance Sow — Rethinking Nutrition and Health Interactions

AFIA’s nutrition committee is hosting a new program in 2019 focused on sow health. Experts will discuss how to maximize a sow’s lifetime productivity with nutrition, understanding the impact on health of the sow and take a deep dive into sow gut health — how the sow’s microbiome may affect her progeny. This session will take a closer look at the current state of international trade and how current trade policies are affecting the meat industry — from grain and feeds to live animals and their products. Attendees will gain information on how these international issues are affecting business growth and opportunity, to aid in strategic planning and risk management moving forward.
