2 Sisters brings poultry lessons to local school

Students learn about the chicken cutting and preparing process as well as the importance of a healthy diet.

2 Sisters Food Group’s Sandycroft poultry team has joined forces with local Queensferry c.p. School to provide some lessons to the children.

Last week, the site welcomed the excited and inquisitive children for their first lesson focused on healthy living. They were taught how chicken meat is cut and prepared, followed by a practical session where Year 5/6 teacher Gordon Rodger-Burns and Amy Portman had a go at preparing the meat themselves.

Charlie Fitzsimmons from Aura Leisure also joined the lesson and talked to the children about the need and benefits of a healthy diet and exercise. 

Rodger-Burns said: "It was a really fun morning at 2 Sisters and the children enjoyed learning about the chicken cutting and preparing process. In our next lesson we will be asking the children to prepare a healthy meal from the chicken meat provided by 2 Sisters, they will then create a presentation to showcase what they have learned.”

Jane Hall, 2 Sisters’ financial controller, said: "We really enjoyed having the children on site and telling them all about 2 Sisters. We look forward to continuing this partnership and educating our future colleagues.”
