Chicken meat is the most consumed animal protein in Mexico. Consumption has risen steadily over the last decade, unlike that of pork, consumption of which has risen much more slowly, or beef, which has trended down slightly. The country is the fifth-largest consumer of chicken meat globally.

Mexico’s chicken meat production should reach 3.9 million metric tons (MT) in 2024, an increase of 2%, according to the latest forecasts from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS).
