Pig society hires new president

Peter Bown has joined UK’s Pig Veterinary Society as president.

Peter Bown has joined UK’s Pig Veterinary Society as president. Nigel Woolfenden has joined the organization as vice-president.

Bown's main agenda is to help control or eliminate endemic pig diseases such as PRRS and swine dysentery. He said that in doing so, the cost of production for the UK pig industry will be reduced.

Bown worked with the Wiltshire-based George Veterinary Group prior to joining PVS. He has also been the consultant vet to PIC since July 2001 and is a member of the editorial board of Pig & Poultry Marketing magazine.
