De Heus Nutrición Animal has acquired Agrupación de Cooperativas de Regadío de Extremadura (Acorex) in Spain, effective March 13. The acquisition will help De Heus increase its presence in the area of Extremadura and will help it build a leading position in the Spanish animal feed market.

The Acorex plant has 19 employees with a production capacity of 11,000 metric tons per month. With the short-term investment planned by De Heus Nutrición Animal, the plant will reach a production capacity of 180,000 metric tons per year.

“I am sure that our experience and international background will help us strengthening and taking the Garrovilla plant to a new level which helps us to further optimize the results of our customers,” said Co de Heus, CEO of Royal De Heus.

“De Heus’ commitment to the Spanish market is firm and long term,” said José Manuel García, the general director of De Heus in Spain. “Our goal is to integrate the new feed plant in De Heus by the systematic application of the five pillars that define us: quality, performance, independence, ongoing improvement and entrepreneurial spirit. With this acquisition, we are consolidating our commitment to the cattle farming business in an area as important as Extremadura.”
