US Foods will acquire FirstClass Foods

On April 24, US Foods announced that it has agreed to acquire FirstClass Foods, a privately owned meat manufacturing company based in Hawthorne, Calif., with nearly $55 million in annual sales.

Tyson Foods to acquire AdvancePierre Foods

Tyson Foods has agreed to acquire AdvancePierre Foods, a producer and distributor of value-added meat and poultry products and sandwiches, the companies announced on April 25. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of Tyson Foods' 2017 fiscal year.

Cherkizovo Group to acquire Russian grain producer NAPKO

Cherkizovo Group, the largest vertically integrated meat and feed producer in Russia, will acquire NAPKO, one of Russia's leading grain producers. Among other assets, Cherkizovo Group will acquire NAPKO's agricultural land of 147,000 hectares located in the Lipetsk, Tambov and Penza regions, which are strategically important areas for Cherkizovo Group.

ChemChina purchase of Syngenta gets conditional approval

Conditional antitrust approval has been granted in ChemChina's bid to purchase Syngenta, a Switzerland-based pesticide and seed company. In the proposed transaction, ChemChina would acquire Syngenta for $43 billion.

DuPont to divest part of its crop protection business

DuPont has entered into a definitive agreement with FMC Corp. to divest a portion of DuPont's Crop Protection business, including certain research and development capabilities, and to acquire substantially all of FMC's Health & Nutrition business.

OSI Europe Foodworks, a division of OSI Group, LLC in Europe, has acquired the privately owned Hynek Schlachthof GmbH, based in Tauberbischofsheim, Germany.
