President of the local Poultry Farmers' Association, Madhusudan Koirala, said the ban on imports of parent chicks from India had sparked the shortage of chicken. India is the key supplier of chicken to Nepal. Supplies in Chitwan fell almost 40% against the average daily demand of 100 kilograms.
