Rice hardest hit by tropical storms

Losses from tropical storms hitting the Philippines have been estimated at P18.4 billion, according to reports. 

Nearly 122,000 hectares of croplands were damaged by the two typhoons causing losses of rice, corn and high-value commercial crops. This has also impacted fishery products, livestock, poultry and farm buildings.

The most affected crop was rice with 109,188 hectares lost. This is followed by nearly 10,000 hectares of corn.
