Jack in the Box offers Unchicken sandwich

Jack in the Box the first fast-food chain to offer plant-based chicken sandwich.

Jack in the Box is introducing the first "unchicken" sandwich on its menu at select locations through a partnership with Tyson Foods' Raised & Rooted brand.

The chicken alternative made of pea protein will be initially featured at locations in Monterey and Salinas, California, and Reno, Nevada.

The company says the sandwiches are the first-ever plant-based "unchicken" sandwiches introduced by a quick-service restaurant.

It is noted that they have the taste, crunch and texture to satisfy even the most dedicated sandwich connoisseur.

"Jack in the Box is delivering industry leading innovation with the first plant-based chicken sandwich at retail in the U.S.," says JACK Chief Product Officer Jennifer Kennedy. "We are excited to meet the growing demand for meatless alternatives with our new Unchicken sandwiches providing indulgent taste, crispy crunch, and savory flavor in a new plant-based option," she adds.
