John B. Swisher, the founder of JBS United Inc., has received the "Sagamore of the Wabash Award," one of Indiana's highest honors.

The award, which was created in the 1940s, is presented to those who have rendered distinguished service to the state or governor. The governor chooses the recipients of the award; past honorees include astronauts, presidents, ambassadors, artists, musicians, politicians and citizens who have contributed to Indiana's heritage. "It is a great honor, and in particular to have it presented by the Lt. Governor," said Swisher. "I truly appreciate this significant award."
