Demand increase for pig medicine in Spain

Figures released by Spain’s veterinary medicines industry association Veterindustria show that sales by its members of medicines to be used in pig production reached Euro 244.74 million (US$352.79 million) – an increase of 34.09%. The second-highest growth rate was recorded in the cattle sector, where sales rose by 27.99% to stand at Euro 200.98 million, while for companion animals sales rose by 21.92% to Euro 157.39 million.

The second-highest growth rate was recorded in the cattle sector, where sales rose by 27.99% to stand at Euro 200.98 million, while for companion animals sales rose by 21.92% to Euro 157.39 million. Sales of medicines to poultry producers stood in fourth place, both in absolute terms and measured by growth, increasing by 8.91% compared to the year before, to stand at Euro 63.94 million.

Total sales by Veterindustria’s members reached Euro 1,013.06 million last year, an increase of almost 4%.
