Chick-fil-a virtual brand capitalizes on food truck mania

I love the flexibility food trucks offer and I bet other consumers will too.

Chick-fil-A’s virtual brand, Little Blue Menu, will hit the road this summer with a new food truck offering French fries, cookies and, yes, even those long rumored chicken wings.

The Little Blue Menu food truck will spend the summer in Louisville, Kentucky. This fall, the food truck will travel throughout Kentucky and Indiana, reports the Louisville Courier Journal.

Little Blue Menu first opened in 2021 in Nashville, with a second location launching in College Park, Maryland by the end of 2023.

Four virtual brands were initially announced. Food from the virtual restaurants, Flock and Farm, Garden Day and Outfox Wings, alongside classic menu items from Chick-fil-A. Little Blue Menu features chicken sandwiches, chicken wings and oven roasted chicken menu offerings.

Since the launch, Little Blue Menu tweaked their formula, now offering two brands – Outfox Wings and Because, Burgers, as well as the classic chicken sandwiches and other menu items from Chick-fil-A. Customers can choose from smoked, roasted and traditional bone-in wings, classic fried chicken, five different burger items, waffle or traditional fries and a variety of other sides.

The name of the virtual brand pays tribute to Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy’s original restaurant, the birthplace of the “Blue Menu,” which constantly changes and evolves according to consumer demand.

Opening a food truck is a great option for the virtual brand. A recent survey by Food Truck Operator revealed that 59% of consumers who have eaten at a food truck over the past six months prefer them over a traditional restaurant.

Personally, I rediscovered my love for food trucks during COVID-19 when I was on the hunt for foodservice options that allowed me to also eat outside.  Honestly, there are few things better than eating chicken wings outside on a summer day.

As an added bonus, I tend to find food trucks in groups, a bonus for when you’re with others. This way, everyone has options.

There’s even an app that tells me where I can find all of my local food trucks, which is great when I’m trying to decide what to eat on a Friday night.

This is definitely a smart move to engage with consumers, Chick-fil-A.
