As part of Tyson Foods’ corporate consolidation plan, the poultry producer purchased a former Walmart call center in Springdale, Arkansas – the location of Tyson Foods’ world headquarters.

“The property will be called ‘Tyson on Thompson’ and feature 130,000 square feet with capacity for approximately 1,000 workspaces,” Tyson representative Derek Burleson told WATTPoultry.com. “The building will provide more space and flexibility as we consolidate our corporate offices and expand world headquarters.”

At $148.80 per square foot, the 130,000-square-foot facility, which includes a 24-hour fitness center, full-service café and outdoor patios, was purchased for $19.34 million, according to Talk Business and Politics.

Approximately 1,000 corporate employees will be relocated from two offices in Illinois and one in South Dakota to the new building in 2023.

When announcing the closer of the Illinois and South Dakota offices in October 2022, Tyson said the relocation will “foster closer collaboration, enhance team member agility and enable faster decision making, positioning Tyson to win with its team members, customers and consumers.”

Along with buying more facilities, Tyson is undertaking renovation and expansion projects at existing Springdale offices.

“Bringing our talented corporate team members and businesses together under one roof unlocks greater opportunities to share perspectives and ideas, while also enabling us to act quickly to solve problems and provide the innovative products solutions that our customers deserve and value,” said Tyson Foods President and CEO Donnie King.

Tyson also hired a new chief growth officer this month, Melanie Boulden, who will focus on global brand marketing effective February 2023.

According to WATTPoultry.com’s World’s Top Companies database, Tyson Foods is the second largest poultry producer in the world with 1.9 million head slaughtered annually.
