U.K. retailer Co-op is recalling Co-op Hot and Spicy Chicken Wings, because the product contains barley, an undeclared allergen.
According to a notice from the U.K. Food Standards Agency, the product subject to recall comes in 350 gram packages, and contain a use by date of July 31, 2021.
Co-op is recalling the product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organizations, which tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do when they have bought the product.
Those who have purchased the chicken wing product and have a gluten or barley allergy or intolerance are advised not to eat it, and to call +0800.0686.727, email [email protected] or return it to the store for a full refund.
Co-op, according to its website, is one of the world’s largest consumer cooperatives, owned by millions of members. It is the U.K.’s fifth largest food retailer with more than 2,500 local, convenience and medium-sized stores.
