Charoen Pokphand Foods PLC has invested in a feed mill and an integrated swine business in Lukhovitsy County, Moscow, Russia.

Adirek Sripratak, president and CEO, Charoen Pokphand Foods, said the company's Thai investment in agro-industry and food in Russia totaled US$100 million (3,500 million baht). He added that the feed mill was the biggest in Russia and produces feed for swine, chicken and cattle with a capacity of approximately 240,000 metric tons.

The company has also planned to produce one million pigs per year for five years. In the first phase of the plan, two swine farms are under construction. Sripatak said Russia imports 75,000 metric tons of pork every year and that the investment in an integrated swine business will provide pork at a lower cost as compared to the imported meat.
