Dr. Chris Nelson, CEO, Kemin Industries, received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 award in the life sciences category in the Central Midwest region.
A Ph.D. in biochemistry, Dr. Nelson pushed his team to "understand the mode of action of all products." Company sales have grown 65% under his leadership.
Dr. Nelson was selected by an independent panel of judges. The award was presented on June 4.
As a Central Midwest award winner, Nelson is now eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young LLP Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 national program.
