Draper Valley Farms based in Mount Vernon, Washington, has been purchased by Booth Creek Management Corp., a Colorado equity group with extensive interests in the food industry.
The poultry company will operate under the name, Draper Valley Holdings LLC.
Founded 72 years ago, Draper Valley sells poultry products throughout the Northwest under the Draper Valley Farms and Ranger labels.
A fully integrated poultry processor, the company has chick-hatching operations in Lynden, Wash., and Oregon; processing facilities in Mount Vernon and Renton, Wash.; and feed manufacturing facilities in Burlington and Chehalis, Wash.
The company, which is owned by Richard and Jim Koplowitz, employs 500 people and has sales of around $80 million.
According to a statement from Draper Valley, "Booth Creek's management has committed to making the acquisition transition seamless to Draper Valley's customers, employees and vendors, and no changes to its current operations are planned."
Terms of the sale were not disclosed. The acquisition is expected to be completed in early September.
Booth Creek owns several other poultry facilities, including Petaluma Poultry in California, and Coleman Natural Foods, based in Colorado.
