U.S. egg production totaled 6.89 billion during February 2009, showing a decrease of 3% from 2008, according to a report from the National Agricultural Statistics Service released March 23.
The total number of layers during February 2009 averaged 341 million, dipping 1% from last year.
February egg production per 100 layers was 2,023 eggs, down 2% from last year.
As of March 1, 2009, all layers in the U.S. totaled 341 million, down 1% from last year.
