China's Ministry of Commerce spokesperson Yao Jian said he hoped WTO processes would help resolve the dispute surrounding the U.S. ban on poultry imports from China, China Daily reported.
The embargo, he said, violated WTO rules and harmed the due interests of China's poultry industry. The statement follows China's written request to the chairman of the WTO Dispute Settlement Body through the Permanent Mission of China to the WTO, asking it to set up an expert panel to look into the matter.
