Addressing a 500-strong audience at the 2009 International Grains Council Conference in London, Ken Hobbie, president and CEO of the U.S. Grains Council, said the nation’s agricultural producers were focused on meeting the growing global demand for food.
Hobbie said biotechnology would help all countries rise up to the challenge of meeting future food demands but added that much would depend on the laws and agreements around which the marketplace would function.
He also underscored the importance of completing the Doha Round of the World Trade Organization to weed out export subsidies and other impediments to free and open trade.
