Russian meat production and processing company Cherkizovo Group reported that it sold approximately 39,000 metric tons of pork in 2008, a year-on-year increase of 40%, according to the Interfax news agency.

Prices in dollar terms increased by 14% year-on-year in 2008 to US$2.75 per kilogram liveweight, compared with US$2.41 per kilo in 2007 (excluding VAT).
