Two University of Guelph students won the Young Scientist competition for research in animal health. Alltech announced the winners at the company's Animal Health and Nutrition Symposium in Lexington, Ky.
Michael Steele won for his graduate research paper relating to high grain diets in dairy cattle. The undergraduate winner was Lee Ann Huber, who conducted research on amino acid use in swine diets.
In its fifth year, the contest drew 5,000 entries. The goal of the program is to increase the number of students studying animal science, and improve technologies available to farmers.
