Figures released by Spain’s veterinary medicines industry association Veterindustria show that sales by its members of medicines to be used in pig production reached Euro 244.74 million (US$352.79 million) – an increase of 34.09%.
The second-highest growth rate was recorded in the cattle sector, where sales rose by 27.99% to stand at Euro 200.98 million, while for companion animals sales rose by 21.92% to Euro 157.39 million. Sales of medicines to poultry producers stood in fourth place, both in absolute terms and measured by growth, increasing by 8.91% compared to the year before, to stand at Euro 63.94 million.
Total sales by Veterindustria’s members reached Euro 1,013.06 million last year, an increase of almost 4%.
